CHUZPE77 raised their hairy head in the beginning of Y2K with the goal to cover, record and tour the great early songs (1976-79) of Austrian punk and wave pioneers CHUZPE (yiddish: impudence with wit), until everyone realises how brilliant they are. To make things easier they hired the original singer/songwriter, as his characteristic voice and guitar treatment proved to be irreplaceable.

In 2001 the hairy four had already recorded five songs for the newly founded Rattlesnake label. These cuts appeared on the compilation MOERDERPARTY ( Murderer's Party i.e. hell of a party ) to much critical and public acclaim. Take some heavier RAMONES fuelled by cynism and arrogance, throw in a bit of feedback assault and shreds of wahwah, add a dash of earsplitting guitar outburst and you're almost there.

CHUZPE77 or C77 as they are called by insiders have teamed up with a young female producer who saw the potential and was willing to bring in some time, money and connections. The band now has just left the studio where they've recorded a four track cd featuring the most heartwrenching version of JOY DIVISION'S 'LOVE WILL TEAR US APART'. This song had already been a huge success for the original CHUZPE about 20 years ago. The other 3 tracks are full-on we don`t give a shit ROCK and will make you pogo all night long.

After a handful of stunning gigs where they delighted old school punks and skater kids alike, C77 are ready to go on the road to ship their brand of sonic mayhem to the masses as far as you let them and even further....

The debut album is scheduled for the autumn of 2002.
